What is Robby's Walk About? |
| |
Robby's Walk About is a community effort in which kids aged 3-8 literally bring Robby the Blue Koala to life.
The concept is simple. John Lawrence, creator of Robby The Blue Koala, visits with local businesses, schools, libraries, etc. teaching kids about animation, teamwork, and community. |
| |
As a former Educator, John is familiar with the concept and the effectiveness of hands on teaching. In Robby's Walk About, coloring pages are created in the likeness of businesses, schools, and other landmarks in the community. Each coloring page is unique and serves as a single cell of the animated film, Robby's Walk About |
| |
Upon being colored by kids using crayons and markers, each cell is taken back to the studio, scanned into a computer, sequenced, and becomes part of an ongoing film. The film Robby's walk about will continue and evolve as the program continues and evolves. .
| Each child who completes a cell is issued an official certificate recognizing his/her contribution. The certificate also records which cell # the child worked on. Children and their parents can check online anytime and see the progress of Robby The Blue Koala and the small contribution they made to a vast community effort. |
| |
It is our hope at Giftofhappiness Media Productions that these work sessions will teach kids how their small effort toward a common goal with the people around them can result in great and wonderful things.
We also hope they will learn a greater appreciation for the beauty found in their own community by actively studying and coloring their own town.
The other important element we hope to teach is the technical aspects of how animation works 'cause cartoons are cool! |
